Kurt Geiger Brogues

We've established that brogues are going to MASSIVE this season, and there are many brogue inspired shoes on the high street at the moment. The Kurt Geiger 'Charleston' pumps merit a mention because they are a cut above your average high street brogue. The dark green snakeskin and brown punched leather are a beautiful combination, and they actually look quite comfortable. If I weren't Poory McPoorson at the moment I would 'deffo' be snapping these up asap.

...!

Sweet Jesus, check these monstrosities out. Seriously, mules are about as old hat as bias cut skirts. Ow it pains my eyes. If you want to buy them (to bury deep undergound) they are on EBay, mind you the seller's other items are pretty sweet.

Gah!

Missed out on these pretty things on EBay, sometimes it doesn't pay to have a life. Patent, vintage, small wearable heel and they only went for 5.99!

The Cervix Predicts

This is a new feature for all you readers, we are going to grace you with our fashion predictions emanating from our waters. Too lazy to post the ones we originally came up with (bobs, navy, grey...how right were we??!!) we have finally pulled ourselves together and compiled this fancy list:

Plaid Is Rad
We already know Tartan is going to be big, but why not go for the option that doesn't scream "Highland Theme Park Lassie!!" into your fragile shell-likes:

Green Hospital/Dirty Lime

No not some new fangled band...ho ho! But beauteous colours you should be adorning yourself with. Hospital Green is my favourite colour, a genteel sort of minty grey, but fast being superseded by Dirty Lime, a sludgy shade for the acid generation. Bo!

In a fabulous Arcadia fest we have below a lovely dirty lime knit from Topshop :

From Dorothy Perkins we have a very pretty dark hospital green cardi:

These colours really lift all those shades of grey that you are going to be wearing all autumn, and the green will add pink tones to your skin making you look far less washed out and hungover than you obviously will be. For a perfect shade of Hospital Green look no further than my dad's car:

Yanks go Brog mad!

When my favourite shoe blog Shoewawa has its second post on how brogues are going to be massive you know its a dead cert. Their latest brog related post refers to an August issue of Vogue calling spectators (American term for brogue) the 'Need it Now' shoe.
The term spectator seems to refer in America to more of a jazz related two-tone brog than a trad brown mr men style shoe. Those crazy Yanks also use the term "Wing Tip" which I first became acquainted with in the brilliant Donna Tartt book The Secret History; and the term "Oxford" which refers to a more traditional lace up shoe.
Purple Pepper on US eBay sell slightly 'I trend you' brogue, but cute nontheless.

Miami Brog

I had a dream last night, I was watching old school Miami Vice and there was a fight scene where they were beating up some dude wearing brogs. Aaarrrghhhhh it was a wonderful dream.
If Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs wore brogs i think brogs would have an entirely different image now.

Mange tout Rodney, mange tout.

I've seen some beautiful Fendi brogues in 'Numéro', a French fashion magazine I bought at the airport the other day. I am currently on the hunt for a picture, but here's a description in the meantime:
Black suede 40's one eyelet lace-up type court with small slightly chunky heel, and pale gold brogue-style punched trim and heel piece.
I may scan in the photo later and if you're lucky I'll draw you a picture!

mmmmiu miu?

I love Victorian boots, I love brogues and I love the gritzy effect of grey leather but these Miu Miu boots I have spotted on eBay just don't do it for me. They're alright but I think too much of a pointy toe, a heel, or pleather (not that these are anything but real leather) can dilute the fembrog aesthetic.

I will fit into a size five, I will fit into a size five

These brogues from eBay are absolutely amazing, honestly I am so upset that my feet are a size 5. I can just about squeeze my feet into a size six with a lot of shoe stretching from my shoe repairer but a size five is beyond me.
They are perfect: flat, aka wearable, vintage, original detaling and shoe style; what more could you ask from a fembrog? My tiny mind is already at 'action-stations' status trying to work out what strange scrap I could use to replace the laces. Unfortunately Sam is a size seven too so I hope these beauties go to a good home.

Archetypal Fembrog

There are some really good brogues on eBay at the moment, and not just the usual Brogue 'inspired' cheapo plastic rubbish... I feel a rant coming on so I'll stop there, but check out these badboys, pretty pricey but fembrog to a tee. Look at the beautiful detailing, and note the kiltie on the end of the shoelace; I also like the chunky yet fem heel.

Brogue fever?? Of course!

My favourite shoeblog Shoewawa has a post on 'Brogue Fever'. Tis true, brogues were massive last winter and I think they're going to be even bigger this winter.
But may I remind you that a true fembrog never dates.... ;)

Topshop Jazz Brogue

Topshop have a new fembrog which is a nice combo of trend-brog and jazz-brog and is sensibly flat. Women have to walk dontcha know?
